What encouraged us to write this article?
For several decades, nothing has changed in the design of face masks because there was no such need. It was not until the COVID-19 pandemic that we started paying attention to how masks are made and changed our attitude towards them. Due to COVID-19, we should wear masks from several to over ten hours a day. It has been going on for over a year. Maybe the situation will force us to wear masks for the next few years. An inappropriately designed mask HAS A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON OUR HEALTH.
When we came up with a new mask design, we focused mainly on people who will wear them, for whose health and comfort we developed our new products: COSMOS Fitted Mask and COSMOS Cotton Shield.
Who will be the first person in EUROPE to buy our licence to manufacture COSMOS Cotton Shields or COSMOS Fitted Masks?
February/March 2020 is the beginning of a global disaster: the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which affects all of humanity. Today, we know how many people around the world have been infected. Statistics show that the number of cases is about 159 million, with 3.3 million deaths caused by the pandemic. We are still uncertain what awaits us in the near future, which may not be COVID-19, but perhaps some other epidemic. No government in the world and no wise man can predict how the COVID-19 pandemic will play out. It is up to us how many cases and deaths there will be. There is no doubt that we can decide where we will direct the COVID-19 pandemic. It will show whether we are disciplined and determined to observe basic rules, such as DISTANCE – DISINFECTION – MASK, because we need to demand the best from ourselves before we can start to demand the same from others.

In March 2020, COSMOS decides to manufacture face masks. We sew the same models of masks as everyone around the world. Nobody expects that we will have to wear masks for at least two years and maybe longer. We analyse the market and conclude that there are no comfortable and practical masks adapted to the current situation, in which we are forced to wear them all day. We notice that almost every mask has structural defects. The biggest defect is that the exhaled air is directed towards the eyes, which makes the eyes dry and exposes them to the risk of being infected with exhaled bacteria. Moreover, masks slide off or become wet, whereas their loops hurt the ears – many masks are uncomfortable and harmful for health.
This is why in 2020 we started selling our COSMOS Fitted Sports Mask, which is our original design. We analysed which products should be used to manufacture our mask and how to design it so that it does not make breathing harder, does not slide off and is comfortable to wear.
To make our mask, we used cotton (170 g/sqm) which has a CERTIFICATE and certified non-woven fabric with silver ions (55 g/sqm). We worked on the design for almost two weeks. In the production process, we paid particular attention to proper air circulation and the comfort of wearing. Instead of elastic loops, we used non-compression band, which is the perfect solution. By creating the right type of mask and using appropriate products in the manufacturing process, we developed the perfect product. In winter our fitted masks do not get wet or stiff in low temperatures, and in summer they provide heat insulation.
COSMOS Fitted Masks thanks to an appropriate design and air circulation, a very small amount of air exits near the nose. It is because air exhaled near the nose is very harmful for our health: the eyes may be infected with exhaled bacteria, the eyes may become dry and the bacteria we exhale may settle on the mask or the face. Thanks to a different design of the mask, a very small amount of air exits near the nose, whereas the rest exits near the ears and on the bottom of the mask.
Thanks to an appropriate design of the mask, the air is exhaled through the non-woven fabric. It does not let air flow to the outside of the mask, as a result of which the fabric is warmed up, which automatically makes the outside cotton layer of the mask dry. Thanks to it, our fitted masks do not freeze in winter. And in summer our masks are pleasantly cool.
When we designed COSMOS Fitted Sports Mask, we used our innovative solutions, which contributes to the excellence of our product. It is our original project, which is why our fitted masks have so many advantages. Our masks for adults and children can have any image you choose, we will use your graphic design. Fitted masks do not slide off the face, unlike other similar products. They are very comfortable to wear and do not hurt your ears. We have reported this mask model to EUIPO, which is described below.

In January 2021, having finished the design of the perfect COSMOS Fitted Mask, we started a new global project to revolutionise the mask market. Our goal is to produce the perfect mask which will comply with all requirements related to health and comfort. The working name of the product is COSMOS Cotton Shield. We have worked on COSMOS Cotton Shield for a month. Did we achieve our goal? We think we did, but we are waiting for your opinion. What were our goals when we started to develop a new project, whose working name is COSMOS COTTON SHIELD? How can we make a mask that does not harm our heath???

7) How can we design a mask which can be worn comfortably for several hours without any harm to our health?
In January 2021, we started work on COSMOS Cotton Shield.
After a month of designing the mask whose working name is COSMOS Cotton Shield, construction work was finished. Our goal has been fully achieved. We created a mask in which almost all of the exhaled air goes downward. It was possible because we used a new technology in the production process. The new mask with our innovative design was called COSMOS Cotton Shield. Thanks to the new design, the mask is more comfortable and does not cause problems when you wear it because it does not slide off and does not hurt your ears. There was no problem with selecting appropriate fabrics because we used the same products that we use to make COSMOS Fitted Mask. The fabrics and non-woven material are CERTIFIED.
We managed to achieve all technical conditions and goals that we had set when we started to develop our new product: COSMOS Cotton Shield.
COSMOS Cotton Shield does not make the eyes dry and prevents bacterial infections to the eyes. The exhaled air does not exit on the top, near the eyes, which means that bacteria do not settle on the face and are not inhaled into the body.
The mask perfectly fits the face, which makes it comfortable to wear it and easy to breathe. Thanks to using non-compression band instead of loops, our mask does not hurt the ears.
Our task has been fully completed. We managed to make the best mask in the world, which we called COSMOS Cotton Shield. Our shields for adults and children can have any image you choose, we will use your graphic design. Thanks to the design which ensures proper air circulation, our mask is safe for health.
Why did we decide to report our designs to EUIPO in January?

Our original idea was to manufacture COSMOS Fitted Sports Masks. Having almost one year of experience in the production of masks, we were the first company in the world to create a product called COSMOS Cotton Shield. We are the first company in the world to manufacture masks in which exhaled air cannot flow upwards and is directed downwards.
Thanks to this mask design, the eyes do not get dry and the bacteria we exhale do not settle on the eyeballs.
The question is as follows: Did a POLISH company design and manufacture the best mask in the world, which due to its medical properties is safe for our health, as well as comfortable and practical to wear?
These products are our own designs and new technological ideas, which is why we decided to report the design of COSMOS Fitted Sports Mask, the design of COSMOS Cotton Shield and the name Cotton Shield to EUIPO as registered designs and registered names.

I have written above that nobody in the world analysed the mask market. Companies probably believed that everything that could be done about mask design has already been done over the decades. Moreover, as I have already written, we have been wearing masks for over a year and we will probably wear them for quite a long time. Incorrectly shaped masks are harmful for health When a mask is not correctly designed, the air exits upwards, which makes the eyes dry and allows bacteria to enter the eyes. The structural defects of such masks make them slide off the face, whereas tight loops hurt the ears. You can bear it, but why bother? We were up to the task – our masks are practical and comfortable.
Why do we recommend to DISINFECT MASKS with a hand disinfectant after a consultation with your doctor?
There is no such thing as a reusable mask, because every face mask is disposable and should be DISPOSED OF after every use. If you do not do that, you should DISINFECT every mask. If you do not DISINFECT a mask after taking it off, you create the perfect conditions for bacteria to grow on the mask, which you then put on again. When we exhale air, we also exhale different types of bacteria to the inside of the mask. Bacteria may also settle on the outside of the mask. Exhaled air makes the mask moist on the inside. Air humidity, our body temperature and the approaching summer are the perfect conditions for bacteria on masks. This is why we would like to encourage you once again to DISINFECT YOUR MASK after consulting your doctor to find out which disinfectants you should use so as not to harm your health.
It is more economical and environmentally-friendly to wear reusable masks than disposable masks, because as the name suggests a disposable mask should be replaced (thrown away) after every use. Since about 20 million citizens of Poland have the duty to wear a mask, we would have to dispose of about 100 million masks a day, which is a huge number on a global scale. A disposable mask may be worn for at least one month or more, provided that you follow hygiene rules while wearing it. Whenever you take your mask off, you should DISINFECT it, but first you should of course consult your doctor to find out which disinfectants you should use so as not to harm your health. A reusable mask should be washed in 60°C.
You can calculate the economic benefits of reusable masks, which can be worn several times a day, as compared to disposable masks.

DISTANCE – DISINFECTION – MASK
WHY IS DISTANCE IMPORTANT? It is fine if you can keep a distance of 3 metres between people. When you see a lot of people in a bus or a tram, wait for the next one. When you see a large group of people in a shop or a café, avoid such places, it is better to be cautious. Stay safe.
WHY IS DISINFECTION IMPORTANT? Try to wash your hands often and if possible, carry a hand disinfectant and masks with you (why? It was described above. Why should you disinfect your hands and wear a mask? It was also described above).
WHY ARE MASKS IMPORTANT? If you are sick and you wear a mask, you will not infect others. If you are healthy and you wear a mask, you will not get infected yourself. We are at the highest risk of getting infected through the nose, mouth, and eyes. Everyone has a habit of wiping their mouth or nose with their hand. When you have a mask on, you touch the mask, not your mouth or nose. This is why it is necessary to disinfect your hands often so as not to transfer bacteria to the mask (we also recommend you to disinfect your mask, but first consult a doctor, as described above). When you leave your house, you are at risk of transmitting germs on your hands because you touch everything: door handles, railings, products in a shop, etc., so when you want to touch your mouth or nose, you are protected by a mask. So remember to disinfect your hands and wear masks.
